Finnish Sauna Society had its 75th anniversary in October 2012. The Society is one of the oldest and most respected public organizations in Finland, where, in different periods, sauna was considered a religious ritual, a way of invigoration, hygiene and recuperation. In 1957 the organization put forward the initiative to found the International Sauna Society, which has its permanent representatives in 13 countries including Austria, Germany, Japan, Czech Republic, Norway, Mexico, the USA, Belgium, Finland and Lithuania. These societies« priority is the promotion of traditional Finnish saunas for health and rejuvenation.
