Thursday, September 26, 2013 Spanish Cuisine, American Cheese, and Russian Bathhouse in Sokolniki

From September 26th to 29th, 2013, Sokolniki Park will be swept by Village Fest, a city festival of countryside culture uniting four projects: the Farmer’s Fair, the Russian Bathhouse Festival, the World Barbeque Festival, and the Honey Festival. The exposition will be available from Thursday whereas the main events are scheduled for the weekend.

Culinary master-classes will be unleashed by American farmer Jay Robert Close on Saturday. This New-Yorker settled down in a village near the town of Solnechnogorsk four years ago to start making over twenty exclusive cheese sorts. Jay has got everything he needs for his business: cows, goats, and sheep. Mr. Close often goes to the Netherlands to improve his skill and purchase some exquisite ingredients. You will have a unique opportunity to learn the elements of cheese making in the Farm Zone at 4 Luchevoi prosek.

The World Barbeque Festival will feature the Duel of the Chefs from Russia and Spain. Maestro Leonid Zharkov will clash with the magnificent Jorge de Angel Moliner, author of a blog on Spanish cuisine in Russian entitled Spanish cuisine…en ruso, frequenter of culinary magazines, and host of various master-classes. The Duel of the Chefs is supported by Julia Vysotskaya’s Culinary Studio.

The Bathhouse Festival will also surprise its guests with original entertainment. The visitors will see the Speed Stove Building and Baking Show, the Best Birch Twig Bunch, the Glass Bathhouse interactive show, etc.

Mind-blowing art installations will be scattered across the park. This weekend will feature country style concerts.
